Training


Karate is done wearing a traditional Gi which can be purchased through the club.

When you first start we recommend wearing loose fitting clothing such as t-shirt and jogging bottoms to allow a full range of motion.

Karate training consists of Kihon, Kumite and Kata.

Kihon – learning and mastering the stances and techniques used within Shotokan.

Kumite – a progression of partner work with the end result of being able to perform free fighting with confidence.

Kata – a predefined sequence of moves in which the Karate-ka performs the techniques against imaginary opponents.
